We’ve Lowered Our PIAL Fire Rating – And That’s a Win for Everyone
We’re excited to share some big news with our community: our fire protection rating has officially improved from Class 5 to Class 4, according to the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana (PIAL). This upgrade goes into effect on June 1, 2025, and it’s a direct result of the hard work, training, and dedication we’ve poured into serving Pointe Coupee Parish Fire District 4.

This change means that residential and most commercial properties within seven road miles of a recognized fire station will now receive Class 4 (W.H.) insurance rates. That could lead to real savings on property insurance for many homeowners and businesses in our district.
What Made This Possible?
This wasn’t an overnight change. We’ve made consistent improvements over the past few years—investing in better equipment, increasing training standards, strengthening our water shuttle capabilities, and expanding station coverage. Thanks to those efforts, we met the criteria for a Class 4 rating, and PIAL officially recognized our progress.
Why It Matters
- Lower insurance premiums for qualifying homes and businesses
- Increased community trust in our emergency preparedness
- Stronger recognition of our personnel, training, and operations
- A safer future for Pointe Coupee Parish
We’re incredibly proud of what this rating represents: a community-first fire department that’s always working to raise the bar.
A Shared Achievement
None of this would be possible without the commitment of our firefighters, volunteers, and community partners. Your support makes our work possible—and this rating improvement is something we all share.
What’s Next?
While this is a big step forward, maintaining our Class 4 rating (and aiming even higher) depends on continuing the same level of service and dedication. We’re not slowing down. We’re pushing forward—because this community deserves nothing less.
